After cleaning it up the best I could, we let Allie try it out for awhile, to see if she liked it. I recently pulled it from her room into the living room, so she could sit in it to watch her latest favorite movie, The Sound of Music. To be honest, it grossed me out. It looked so old. Not even old in a cool, vintage sort of way - just icky and old. So I decided...
The rocking chair would be my first spray-painting venture. Ok. Now I wasn't grossed out, I was just super excited. I figured it would take me like 30 minutes, I'd spray on some pretty paint, and it would be a new chair. Not so much. Two coats of primer, 2 coats of paint, and a clear top coat later, this is finally what I ended up with:
I had fun taking my Allie outside and letting her enjoy her bright new tiffany blue chair on the porch...
She was a little more interested in her Dr. Seuss books than the chair at the moment... |
I am pretty stinkin' proud of the way this came out, and I can't wait to find some more fun spray paint projects to tackle! In the meantime, my next project will be making a little seat cushion for this awesome "new" rocking chair.

SO CUTE! I will now be scouring Goodwill for a little rocking chair for my littles. What paint color is that?
Thanks, Jennifer! It's Rustoleum Ultra Cover in Aqua, and it might be my new favorite color...next to pink, of course! :)
Awesome Job Tori! Looks like Allie thinks it's pretty dandy as well.
Very cute! I bought an old brass lamp from a resale shop and spray painted it then bought a new shade and it was like new!!!! So fun!
I love that rocker, it is so cute and Allie is perfect in it!
