Fashion Show 2009

This past Monday was our annual Spring Fashion show for our sewing students. They were all so beautiful! Everyone really worked hard this year on their garments, and it really showed.

From the time I was a little girl in sewing, to being an apprentice teacher as a teen, and now teaching alongside my sweet Memaw, I've always had such precious examples of Godly women to look up to. I can only pray that, in some small way, I am being that type of example and inspiration to these girls, whether they're 4 or 14. I pray every day that I will be a blessing to each girl individually, and that I will be an encouragement to them. It always meant the world to me when someone I looked up to took an interest in my life, so I strive to do the same for these girls, in the hopes that they do look up to me.

It was so exciting to see them walk across the stage in the sanctuary this year, instead of the less-elegant gym. The rickety runway was replaced by a beautiful hardwood stage, and we didn't even have to rig a sound system! The decorations were so beautiful, and Memaw really loved the way everything turned out, which was one of the most important things to me.

Though I may have mispronounced a few words, made mistakes on parents' names, or described accessories that girls decided at the last minute not to carry, I believe God was glorified in this year's style show because of the heart these girls, and their sweet families, have for Him. Those that don't know Him can't help but be impacted by the families that surround them each week when they bring their children to class. What a blessing it is to be a part of such a unique, fun business. The best part of all is that I get to learn, daily, from a Godly woman I've looked up to all of my life: my Memaw.

(I don't have pictures from the show yet, but these are a few of the younger girls when they completed their beautiful dresses.)

You did a LOVELY job, Tori. The sanctuary looked beautiful. I am so glad Julia is with you every Monday! You are doing such a great job with all the girls. Your love for them and for your sweet grandmother is evident. You are setting a wonderful example.

Ditto to what Krista said. You are a wonderful example to my girls and I have never doubted that for that hour each week that they spend with you and your grandmother, they are in wonderful hands! You are both such blessings!
