i've been learning...

Lately, I've been learning some pretty amazing stuff. Through sweet times of musical worship, one on one time with the Lord, and simply spending time reading His word, I have been reminded of how near my God is.
There are several things I've been led to pray for. For a long while, I didn't want to pray those prayers, because I simply didn't believe God or anyone else could answer such seemingly outlandish 'miracle requests'. I'd forgotten to live believing in the simplest truth about who God is: He is faithful. I'd somehow forgotten that, or come to a place where I wasn't willing to believe it in its fullness.
Somewhere along the line, I'd become the father in Mark 9 who asks Jesus to heal his son "IF he can". The man who says, "I believe, Lord. Help my unbelief," all in the same breath.

God is faithful. What does 'faithful' mean? I love the footnote to the famously quoted Hebrews 11:1 in my NAS Study Bible that says,

"Faith gives reality and proof of things unseen, treating them as if they were already objects of sight rather than of hope."

That's the kind of faith I want to live out. I want to believe that these things I've been led to pray for are possible, and that I serve the only God who could ever bring them to pass. Prior to that Hebrews 11:1 verse, in the latter part of chapter 10, I am reminded, "Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised...But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul."

He has called me to believe Him. What reason do I have not to? He has always been faithful, and I trust He will continue His compassionate, all-knowing, self-glorifying faithfulness in my life.
